WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU TEACH?
We teach real, amateur and professional-style boxing tactics. Plain and simple. Boxing itself can be a brutal HIIT workout that challenges your body, your mind. When done correctly, even the newest boxers will get a solid workout, progressing from the fundamentals up to advanced techniques—at a pace that matches your effort. DO I NEED TO HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE OF BOXING BEFORE I SIGN UP?
We welcome people with no experience. What we teach is boxing, from the ground up—both literally and figuratively. Coach Daniel will guide you through footwork, movement, defensive and offensive techniques, and all the skills you see fighters execute on TV. He’ll also teach you how to think like a boxer, which will enhance both your technique and your workout. By combining these elements, your sessions will challenge you and reveal what you’re truly made of.
DO I NEED HAND WRAPS OR GLOVES?
No, you don't. In fact, we could have ALL of your sessions be without them and you're GUARANTEED a workout that is AS EFFECTIVE as those who actually punch stuff. It's just way more fun when you get to hit something. Come in for a FREE Fundamental Boxing Session and give it a try. If you find that you like boxing and want to continue, we'll talk gloves and wraps then.
WILL I GET HIT?
No, you won’t get hit unless you choose to participate in sparring. Sparring is optional and only available to those who earn it by invitation only. Everyone learns at their own pace, and boxing is no different. If you start out training for fitness but progress quickly, demonstrate solid offensive and defensive skills, and show genuine interest, then we’ll discuss sparring at that point.
CAN I TAKE BOXING AS SELF DEFENSE?
First and foremost, ANIMAL KINGDOM BOXING, COACH DANIEL, AND HIS BOXERS DO NOT CONDONE FIGHTING OUTSIDE OF A SANCTIONED EVENT!!!
Boxing is a combat sport. That being the case, you'll learn how to fight. When we coach you, We'll talk to you just like a potential fighter and so you'll learn all the same things a fighter would. You'll develop the skills to protect yourself as a result of this method of training and so self-defense can become a bi-product of what you learn as a fitness participant.
